At almost the same time, almost all over 100 years ago, Carson, Pirie, Scott & Company -1854-, J.C.Penney -1913-, Marshall Field & Company -1892-, Montgomery Ward & Company -1889--, Sears, Roebuck & Company -1886-, all sold pajamas. (Though not in the beginning.) This was done on almost the same street corner in the city of Chicago. This had to be the be the best marketing strategy for pajamas in the history of the United States. They all became successful, and all became philanthropists. Did they mean to be a friendly marketing team, or did it just so happen? 09/02/09 TEAM spells...Tough...spells Together, we Ought to be, United for the Good Goal, Hello and Hallelujah! :) 08/31/09 |

A Family Team Example |
||
| Most of us experience a team in our very own
homes...a family team...as a first team. Some of us have
had the experience of having a family team that also had
a home based business. That was my experience. My Polish grand parents on my mother's side worked a small farm for a living. Tata (grandpa) and grandma had 7 or 8 cows, chickens, geese, a few ducks, and grew pickles. The milk, eggs, meat from the chickens, feathers from the geese, and pickles and what they got from their garden provided for them. What they did not need, they sold. Grandma also picked wild huckleberries and sold them. That was a job because she also had to fight the mosquitos while doing that task. For them it was a life that meant rise early, do the chores, do other work, and retire early. I suppose it also meant pray alot! On Sunday the daughters and their families always visited. It seemed to be a life that had meaning and purpose. Two of the three daughters married farmers. This meant, for the most part, they had home based businesses as well. Sometimes, when needed, the uncles also had a job 'in town'. The third daughter and her husband both worked 'in town'. The three families had eleven grandchildren. We did alot together, especially when we were really young. They are like brothers and sisters in my memory and in my heart. Of course my little brother is in my heart more. Of the eleven grandchildren, ALL, 100%, have been or are self-employed. All of the boys, four, have done farming. Two only farming. Three of the eleven have had brick and mortar buildings to conduct business, and two still do. Almost all of us have also done markets. Three became millionaires. (All were raised to be spiritual millionaire/millionairesses.) The grandchildren learned this is how it is done. If you want to, you can do this also. It was probably never really said. It was just known. The other important thing we learned was 'keep track of your income, keep track of your expenses and pay taxes on the difference'. This Amish Catholic kind of life was very wholesome. It also provided lots of riches. The kind that have nothing to do with money. I told my Uncle Teddy one time "I'm one of the wealthiest women in the whole world. And it's because of this family." Also, it would be because of the Church. As we go about earning our keep, may we also remember the family that we've been given, in some way, if only in a prayer. And may we thank the Good God. Joan Ellen p.s. May your family team, no matter what, be an inspiration to, and for, you also. 08/31/09 |
